MCKEAN COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT RAISES AWARENESS ABOUT CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania, April 3, 2023): April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Members of our community wear blue to raise awareness about child abuse and prevention. We “wear blue” to reinforce McKean County’s goal to eradicate child abuse.
District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer: “Every day in our county, members of law enforcement and numerous agencies deal with the most difficult cases and work for the betterment of our county’s children. The month of April is a symbolic recognition of child abuse prevention efforts but, of course, every day is critical to the child suffering abuse. I recognize each officer and each service provider for the work they do to help families and victims and express our collective pledge to continue to work until child abuse is eradicated.”
On April 29th, please join us for the 3rd annual “Walk against Child Abuse,” a community walk that was started by a local family to raise awareness and bring the community together in solidarity. The walk starts at 10am at the Smethport Firehall and ends at the steps of the courthouse.
Please see the attached Calendar of Events for other ways to participate.
