MCKEAN COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA (August 2, 2022): Members of the K9 Unit with the McKean County Detectives’ Bureau participated in National Night Out events in Kane and Bradford.
Tracking K9’s Izzy, Roxy, and Dixie met with Kane residents during the festivities. Children and adults met with the dogs and learned how they use their noses to track people.
K9’s Rigby, Nico and LG met with Bradford residents. Children posed for pictures with the dogs and learned about their jobs. Rigby and LG use their noses to find drugs and Nico uses her nose to find explosives. Both events were well-attended.
The K9’s work with area law enforcement in their respective disciplines and attend community events to promote an anti-drug message to children in the District Attorney’s “Say No to Drugs” campaign.
Through their participation at events, the K9’s are becoming ambassadors for the important role that K9’s have in law enforcement.
Pictured with the K9s and children are Handlers Rod Johnson, Ruth Mayes, Jay Prosser, Bob and Vicki Rinfrette, Officer Dakota Eaton, and District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer.
