McKean County District Attorney’s Office is Seeking a Victim/Witness Coordinator

This is a full-time position that provides services to crime victims and witnesses in McKean County to assist them throughout the criminal justice process and maintains program requirements established by Pennsylvania’s Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). The VWC is responsible for maintaining statistics and preparing a grant application periodically. This is an important position in our criminal justice system.
The ideal candidate will have experience in victim services or degree in related field or experience in the criminal justice field. Clearances are required.
The position reports to the District Attorney who directs the tasks that are necessary, but which are summarized below. As a full-time County employee, the position provides health insurance and retirement. This is a union position and is located at the DA’s Office in Smethport although travel to the three magisterial district courts in McKean County will also be required.
The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain and continually develop the proper procedures for providing specific services required by law to victims/witnesses of crime.
- Ensure all victims/witnesses of crime understand their rights and protection afforded to them under the law.
- Provide basic services to victim/witnesses of crime involved in the Criminal Justice System, including but not limited to: providing case information, assistance with restitution/compensation claims, witness management, notification of rights, obtain victim input and impact statements, assist with registration with county/State agencies for offender release notification, etc.
- Maintain all program statistics and complete reporting requirements established by the PCCD and as depicted in the applicants’ manual.
- Network with other agencies in the common goal of providing exceptional services to victims of crime.
- Conduct training and provide technical assistance to other program agencies on the rights of victims and services provided to those victims.
- Attend Orientation Training conducted by PCCD’s Bureau of Victim Services within six months of hire as directed.
- Complete a minimum of 30 hours of training per calendar year to stay apprised of victims’ issues.
- Prepare Annual and Quarterly Financial Reports; Annual Service Statistical Reports; and prepare the Annual Grant Application.
